Let’s face it. Teens today have so many options when it comes to getting from place to place. Among the top of the list of transportation is Uber. Within a few seconds, you can call a driver to pick you up at almost any location. It’s no wonder why more and more teens are driving less and less these days.
The number of teenage drivers has hit a record low, according to the Federal Highway Administration, which reports America now has the fewest 16-year-old drivers than at any other time since the 1960s. All good right? Well not really.
Here are just a few reasons why teens should probably be enrolling in drivers ed program and learning to drive.
1. Real Independence.
Although uber can get you from place to place, being behind the wheel bring a form of joy that cannot be expressed in the backseat of a strangers vehicle. Whether you’re in a mood to hit Mulholland for a leisure right or you want to make a memorable experience (shhhh), having a vehicle bring new comforts to our daily lives.
2. Longer you wait, worse of a driver you’ll be
No matter how long till we get our driver’s license, you’re still going to need one. Eventually, we all grow up (sadly) and with age comes responsibilities. Being in control of your own vehicle provides a unique perspective to the power you may have. It’s also great for emergencies that require an immediate response.
3. Kinda against Ubers Terms and Conditions.
Oh whattt!…. According to Uber’s terms and Conditions, a rider must have their own uber account and be at least 18 years old. Obviously, there is an easy workaround by using a parents/guardians uber account to login. I doubt that teens are being busted all over the US for their heinous crime but if you do get caught, you run the risk of losing an Uber account. (although you could probably just create another one .. hmm )
4. A nice bonding experience
I know I know.. You’re trying to get away from your parents. Guess what? Your parents were trying to get away from their parents. And so enough your kids will be trying to get away from you. But in the meantime, learning to drive with your parents between driving school sessions is a great bonding experience. You’re so close to going to college or moving out of the house; these little moments can make all the difference through your life
