1. Solvang
If you have never heard of this place, your not alone. Solvang is a Danish town location 30 minutes from Santa Barbara You owe it to yourself to check out this quirky town mirrored after a Danish village. It even has its own windmills and a giant wooden shoe. The kids can feed the ostriches and ride a mini horse while the adults can enjoy the Danish-inspired local cuisine. food
2. Mojave National Preserve
For the relaxer… This is one of the largest preserves in the US with an extensive collection of dunes, the densest Joshua Tree forest in California and lava tubes for you to explore. Our recommendation is to make sure you make plenty of everything; particularly food and gas. You will feel like your miles away from anything (probably because you really are)
3. La Jolla
A personal favorite. Location in San Diego, this city boasts some amazing places to explore. For the adventure seeker, hit the kayak tours to check out the sea caves for an amazing experience. If you’re into a little more adventure, you can snorkel with the leopard sharks right in the cove. Whatever your trill is, this lovely city will have something for everyone.
4. Palm Springs
A local favorite. If your like me and just enjoy chilling by the pool, this is the place for you. Only a few hours away., this city is a chills persons dream. Great food, great people, and relaxing atmosphere, You can even head up the tram to some great hiking near San Jacinto or even go on a tour of Elvis’s historic honeymoon home.
5. Wrightwood
No list is complete without mentioning this area. If its winter time, head to the slopes at Mountain High Reports. If its time, there is a fantastic old gold mine you can hike to in the hills. Did we also mention zip lining at Pacific Crest? That will sure get your blood pumping.
